I met my bride, Mona, when we were only 14 years old. 1 year after high school we married and started a family; not exactly the recommend path. That beginning was nearly the end for our marriage as we spent the next 10 years doing marriage all the wrong way.

In 1995, after suffering a career changing back injury, Mona and I faced a marriage (life) changing decision - stay together or not? Ultimately, we made a decision to honor God by staying married; God did a mighty work in our lives and our marriage. Today, we are completely different people. We often quip that we are on our second marriage…and that’s a good thing!

That’s the bare bones of our story, so if you want details, just ask me and I will tell you. To me the most important relationship you can ever have is one with Jesus. Right after that is your relationship to your spouse. There is no other small group more important than the one that God himself created in the beginning. I pray that all couples will first make God a priority in their lives and I believe that naturally their spouse will be their second priority. Honor God and Honor your spouse.

Over my life so far I spent 17 years in the Marine Corps and 15 years in law enforcement. My last assignment was with the San Diego Police Department, where I was retired with a back injury. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty Theological
Seminary. My favorite hobby is going out to my beautiful workshop and doing some woodworking. I also love to fish. But I put that all aside, any day, to spend time with Mona.

Mona and I have been married for over 25 years and have two adult children. Our oldest son is married and has two sons. We also have a beautiful daughter. Mona is a National Board Certified Teacher and has been teaching in the Oceanside Unified School District since 1995.
